Parathyroid Surgery (Parathyroidectomy)

What is a

Hypercalcaemia

Most often caused by overactivity in the four tiny parathyroid glands in the neck or occasionally from cancer. Extra calcium in the blood affects multiple bodily systems, leading to fatigue, kidney stones, or bone pain.

About this procedure

A minimally invasive parathyroidectomy involves identifying and removing only the overactive parathyroid gland(s) based on pre-operative imaging (Sestamibi scans/Ultrasound).

Recovery timeline

Often performed as a day-stay or overnight procedure. Most patients feel an immediate improvement in symptoms and return to desk work within 3–5 days.
